The modified claim form will be required in 2020 to ensure claims are not rejected by payers.

The American Dental Association performs an annual review of the universally-accepted dental claim form to ensure consistency with the HIPAA compliant electronic dental claim (the 837D).

In 2019, the Council's review resulted in adjustments impacting 11 fields on the form. These changes will be required for claims submitted in 2020.
